Dr. Norman Lee Bone, 67, died Monday, August 25, 2003 from complications
associated with Leukemia at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Memorial
services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Westkirk Presbyterian Church,
2700 Colby Woods Drive.
Norman was born in Des Moines, Iowa and was a lifelong resident.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a graduate of Northwestern Medical
School. Norman was a physician in obstetrics and gynecology for
over 30 years. He was a past president of Iowa Methodist Medical
Center and served on the Board of Directors. Dr. Bone had a variety
of interests including hunting and fishing, training labrador retrievers,
traveling, gardening, sports, reading and antiques. He very much
enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bone of West Des Moines; daughter,
Leslie and her husband Kelly McKenna and their children, Christopher
and Erin of Phoenix, AZ; son, David and his wife Gina Bone and their
children, Madison and David Norman of West Des Moines; daughter,
Tracy and her husband Chuck Wheeler and their children, Charlie,
Kathryn, Samuel and David of Des Moines; and brother, James Bone
of Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold
and Vera Bone and brother, Roger.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dunn's
Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Greater Des Moines Community
Foundation-Fleur Drive Beautification Project, 1915 Grand Avenue,
Des Moines, IA 50309.
