1957 Commissioned as a 2nd/Lt. upon graduation. Spent 27 years in
the USAF and the Iowa ANG and retired in 1985 as a Colonel. Worked
in management of men's retail clothing until 1969, when I went into
partnership with Johnson Clothing until December 1991. Worked for
Mr. B Clothing as a merchandise manager until June 1998, when I semi-retired.
I've served on the Board of Trustees for Drake University and was
a member of Drake's Athletic Council. I'm currently President and
Executive Director for the National Football Foundation and College
Hall of Fame, Iowa Chapter. Just recently pitched in the Senior Slow
Pitch World Series held in DSM August 2002. Have five grandchildren
and enjoy being a PA-PA. |

Joined faculty at California State University in Fresno. Was Academic
Chair of P.T. Graduate Program for 23 years. Retired 1998 as Professor
Emeritus. Spent 25 years in volunteer professional and community services,
serving as president of numerous organizations at local, state, and
national Boards of Directors. Received numerous citations for service
among them, university leadership, community service, and award of
excellence from California Physical Therapy Association for contributions
of excellence to promote the profession. Author of text book and numerous
publications during academic career. Upon retirement relocated to
Monterey Bay. Love the ocean which we can view each day from our home.
Continue volunteer since and world travel. My professional and personal
life since leaving high school has been both successful and rewarding.
I especially value my education received at North High. It has been
the foundation for later achievement in my professional life. Am disappointed
to miss this reunion, but might be off on a Rhine River trip from
Amsterdam, Holland to Lucerne, Switzerland. It should be a marvelous
trip! |

Graduated from Iowa State
University with a BS in Civil Engineering and an MS in Transportation
Engineering. Began employment with the Iowa Department of Transportation
in 1957 as a survey party chief and bridge inspector on I-35/80 around
Des Moines and on the I-235 freeway. The next 45 years were spent
as a Resident Maintenance Engineer, Public Hearings Engineer, Long
Range Systems Planning Engineer, Director of Equipment Services, Director
of Transportation Inventory, and State Maintenance Engineer. I retired
from the Iowa DOT in 2002 and since then have been an independent
consulting engineer working half-time for the American Association
of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
I met Jeanette C. Rinker while attending Iowa State, and we were married
in 1958 at Collegiate Presbyterian Church in Ames. We have four children
and eight grandchildren. We feel fortunate that our children all live
within an eight-hour drive, so getting together is a matter of schedule
prioritizing.
My work has required technical paper writing and presentation. Jeanette
and often the older grandchildren have accompanied me to conferences
in Japan, Germany, Austria, Sweden, and several vacation spots in
the United States, so life isn't all work and no play. Jeanette and
I moved to the Northcrest Community here in Ames, so it is just a
matter of locking the door when we leave, and let others do the maintenance.
Northcrest is a complete retirement community with health care center
and an Alzheimer's unit, so our address is a permanent one. |

at Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. in its downtown location at
